Overview
As a Rammstein fan living in the U.S. it is hard to see them in concert. So whenever they announced that they were going on tour in North America I knew I had to take that opportunity to see them live. I’ve always read about how they have the best live shows out of any band so I wanted to see that for myself. Long story short it was the best concert that I’ve ever been to.
Traveling/Planning
While they weren’t headed to a big city near where I live I still wanted to make the trip to go see them in Chicago. I picked this show because of the smaller venue compared to the others on the tour and it was centrally located in the U.S. I drove about 8 hours to Chicago and stayed at a nearby hotel within walking distance of Soldier Field. This was also my first time being around other Rammstein fans so it was definitely an interesting experience.
Showtime
Now for the good part, showtime. The show starts out with an Orchestral Arrangement along with their logo on the screen. The screen slowly rises up as the song progresses until the crescendo concludes. Schneider then comes out in the smoke and then a huge explosion occurs.
That’s when the synth intro for Armee Der Tristen starts playing. If I wasn’t wearing earplugs my ears would have been ringing for a while, so I really recommend wearing ear plugs to their show. Each band member then comes out one by one except for Till for the intro. I would say that this intro sets the tone for the rest of the show because of the loud statement piece of the explosion.
The highlights of the show were definitely songs Sonne, Du Hast, Mein Teil, and Du Riechst so Gut. These songs had most pyro during the show. I’d say Sonne is the craziest song I’ve ever seen live because of the blistering flame towers that go off during the duration of the song.
Final Thoughts
If you haven’t seen a video of this live performance I would definitely check it out. Overall, Rammstein is the best live band that I have seen up to this point. I highly recommend attending a show of theirs if you are able to go.
